Caring for your Woodwind Instrument
- Make sure to swab out your instrument after each time you play. Each of our rentals comes with a cleaning swab. Don't forget to also swab out your mouthpiece.
- Polish the outide of your instrument once a week with a polishing cloth. There are polishing cloths made specifically for brass and silver instruments-make sure you're using the right kind. This is particularly important for flutes. If there is too much build-up on the outside of your flute, the screws and keys may become sticky.
- You should also polish the joints of your flute. If they become dirty, it can be difficult to put the flute together.
- Do not take the crown off of your flute.
