Copland
Aaron Copland (1900-1990) was an American composer, teacher, writer and conductor. Copland is considered by many to be the father of American classical music. He is most well-known for his symphonic works, but his contribution to piano literature is considerable. His early work reflect his French influence from his years studying in Paris, including the popular piece Scherzo Humoristique. His style gradually changed, integrating folk and jazz elements, creating the distinctly American style Copland has become known for.
